چکیده

The C* -algebra extensions of a topological space can be made into an abelian group which is naturally equivalent to the Khomology group of odd dimension [1] which has a close relation with index theory and is one of the starting points of KK theory [8]. The Cp -smoothness of an extension of a manifold was introduced in [3, 4], where Cp denotes the Schatten-von Neumann p-class [5]. We generalize the notion of Cp-smoothness to a finite CW complex and obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for an extension of a finite CW complex to be Cp -smooth modulo torsion.

Purely Infinite Corona Algebras and Extensions

We classify all essential extensions of the form 0 → B → D → C(X) → 0 where B is a nonunital simple separable finite real rank zero Z-stable C*algebra with continuous scale, and where X is a finite CW complex. In fact, we prove that there is a group isomorphism Ext(C(X),B) → KK(C(X),M(B)/B).

ec 2 00 5 MOMENT - ANGLE COMPLEXES , MONOMIAL IDEALS , AND MASSEY PRODUCTS

Associated to every finite simplicial complex K there is a “moment-angle” finite CW-complex, ZK ; if K is a triangulation of a sphere, ZK is a smooth, compact manifold. Building on work of Buchstaber, Panov, and Baskakov, we study the cohomology ring, the homotopy groups, and the triple Massey products of a moment-angle complex, relating these topological invariants to the algebraic combinatori...

Algebraic Properties of Quasi-finite Complexes

A countable CW complexK is quasi-finite (as defined by A.Karasev [30]) if for every finite subcomplex M of K there is a finite subcomplex e(M) containing M such that any map f : A → M , A closed in a separable metric space X satisfying XτK, there is an extension g : X → e(M) of f . Levin’s [36] results imply that none of the Eilenberg-MacLane spaces K(G, 2) is quasi-finite if G = 0. In this pap...

“The type of the classifying space for a family of subgroups” by

Abstract: The classifying space E(Γ,F) for a family F of subgroups of a group Γ is defined up to Γ-homotopy as a Γ-CW -complex E(Γ,F) such that E(Γ,F) is contractible if H belongs to F and is empty otherwise. We investigate the question whether there is a finite-dimensional Γ-CW -model, a finite Γ-CW -model or a Γ-CW -model of finite type for E(Γ,F) focusing on the case where F is the family of...
